Hello readers, more detail info about 350Z engines. Recently nissan developed a new redesigned engine in 2007 which is the VQ35HR. The previous 350Zs are running the VQ35DE engine. Here are a few differences on specification wise for your information.
VQ35DE (3rd generation VQ) 2003-2006 350Z
VQ: This is the Nissan designation for this series of V6 engines.
35: This is the displacement 3.5L liters
D: Stands for Dual Overhead Cams
E: Stands for Electronic fuel injection
Compression: 10:3:1
Redline: 6,600 rpm
Horsepower: 285 hp at 7200 rpm
Torque: 260ft-lb (350 N m) @ 4800rpm
VQ35HR (4th generation VQ) 2007 350Z
VQ: This is the Nissan designation for this series of V6 engines.
35: This is the displacement 3.5L liters
HR: Translations from some Japanese sites suggest this stands for "High Revolution" or "High Response"
Compression: 10.6.1
Redline: 7500rpm
Horsepower: 306hp @ 6800rpm
Torque: 268ft-lb (363 N m) @ 4800rpm
Redesigned block for increased rigidity (stiffer engine block structure)
New ram air dual intake
Twin knock sensors
Improved cooling
As for exterior wise, there are few significant changes in the 2007 Z model. The most noticeable change is the hood buldge which was taken from the old model Z. Stay tune for more post.
