Brunei to KK via Menumbok (Part 1)

Good morning to all. As many people know, there is a new route going to KK (cuts travelling time and hassle) via the new Menumbok Ferry from Muara. Some people with lowered rides may turn this route down due to uncertainties of the road conditions especially the obstacle encountered going up and down the ferry itself.

As per title, 9 rides made a successful journey to KK via the menumbok ferry and back to Brunei safely. 9 rides ranging from the lowest setup ride to a stock setup ride. These rides includes, a wide-body Supra (lowered), zero R (lowered), odyssey (lowered), 350Z (lowered), AE86, Evo 9 and a Mini Cooper (lowered).

*Tips before entering customs:

1. Bring your valid documents (insurance, bluecard & passport)
2. Fill in your car pass from Brunei

3. 2 car pass need to be filled in and passed to Malaysian authority upon arrival in Menumbok
4. A valid ferry ticket (driver & passenger) and make sure the tax is paid from Brunei (extra chargers for passengers)

The journey started with loading the rides to the ferry in Muara. All went smoothly except for a minor maneuvering with a few help from the ferry staff. Heres a video taken by AB. Bare in mind, that day was during high tide. Therefore the ferry was sitting higher then usual from the platform. For more info about Brunei Muara tides click here.

*Tips before you climb up the ferry (during high tide):

1. Allow other high riding cars to enter first
2. Try to enter sideways to avoid your front bumper hitting the ramp
3. Make sure you have enough eyes watching your every move
4. Bring stack of wood just in case (as per vid, ropes were used)
5. Be caution after climbing the ramp, there is a huge hump you need to go over before reaching the parking area

Safety precautions taken by the ferry staff securing the wheels of each cars on the ferry. Passengers are advised to go to the passenger lounge on the upper deck.

As for the ferry ride, it all went smooth. There is also passenger lounge area on the upper deck where it is very convenient for those who wants to relax, sit back and enjoy the ferry ride. An LCD tv with a dvd player and a small tuck shop is also located inside the lounge including a clean toilet outside. Passengers are allowed to sit outside the lounge to enjoy the fresh air.

After 2 hours plus ride on the ferry, arrived here in Menumbok. Stay tune for part 2 of the trip. Here is a teaser pic upon arrival...
